Papa Ayam

Man, let me start with this. This place has a wall of fame adorned with pictures of (what I assume to be) people who have finished their spiciest level of chicken challenge. These people faces are captured holding a full plate of food with a big smile in their face. I bet my bottom dollar they ain’t looking like that at the end of the challenge. I’ve tried their chili. Their scale goes from 1 to 25, and the highest I ever dared to attempt was a 7. Well, it didn’t go well, it felt like my face was melting. So, I decided to play it safe and go for a 5 instead. Guess what? It still burned my face off! I actually enjoy spicy food, but I don't want it to feel like I’m making out with the devil. I just want to relish and savor my food. Sometimes, I question whether this place has a proper method to measure spiciness accurately. This is based solely on my own spicy scale experiences.

Went to Papa Ayam at Paya Lebar Quarter with couple of colleagues for late lunch.. recommended them to try out this restaurant/stall because of their unique and authentic indonesian food menu. My personal fav is their Ayam geprek (smashed chicken) sambal matah their smashed chicken is really tasty and tender.. try out their green chili (sambal ijo) too, if you’re not a big fan of spicy food, because it’s pretty mild.. there are not many seats there fyi so try to avoid rush hour.

I had tried the half and half in rice and Indomie version, I love them both. The fried chicken smells good, tasted just like those fast food chains standard. Rice and noodles were normal, nothing to mention; the chilli paste is the key of the food, the strong, powerful, punchy kicks of chilli padi enhanced the flavour and brought it to another level. I will come back regularly and would love to try higher level for my next visit.
