We recently celebrated our parents' birthday at Beng Thin Hoon Kee, and it was an unforgettable experience. This venerable restaurant has been perfecting Hokkien cuisine for generations, and its rich history is evident in every dish.
The real star, however, was the food. Each dish was a masterclass in authenticity and flavor. The roast suckling pig was sublime, with crispy skin and tender meat. The fish maw soup was rich and savory, while the duck salad offered a delightful balance of textures and tastes.
Stepping into this restaurant felt like a journey back in time, perhaps to the 1980s. The ambiance is decidedly traditional and classic, and it's clear the restaurant is dedicated to preserving its unique atmosphere and cuisine. I visited with my Chinese colleagues and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The seasoning was subtle, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through. I particularly loved the lobster noodles and the yam and pumpkin dessert. If you're looking for a place to host a group dinner with family or friends, this restaurant is an excellent choice.
