A beautiful park smack right in the middle of the bustling city of Singapore. It is a quiet and beautiful escape for many during the rush-periods of city life where you are brought into a beautiful garden of greens. Decked with many seats, open greenland and thankfully a toilet that was finally built in recent years, this small yet holistic park that is filled with parts of Singapore’s history is a great stop for visitors to have a snippet of why Singapore is being famously named as a “Beautiful Garden City”.
The Esplanade Park is the oldest park in Singapore. There are many historical monuments at the park, including Queen Elizabeth Walk, Cenotaph, Lim Bo Seng Memorial, Former Indian National Army Monument site, Tan Kim Seng Fountain (under restoration) In recent times, it has became a gathering place for the Burmese foreign workers and expatriates during Sundays.
This park has so much history. It is fun to walk under the trees. Enjoy the nature and flowers. See the views of the new, like Merlion and Sky Bridge, but turn around and see the old Parliment and government too. Plus historical landmarks! Can cross Anderson Bridge and come back on Cavenaugh Bridge. Like it! Very clean!
