Sri Ruthra Kaliamman Temple was originally a small shrine, housed in a wooden building, located at the Alexandra Brickworks grounds at Pasir Panjang Road and catered to the Hindus working at Brickworks and those who lived in the surrounding areas. The temple is now 100 years old and has just celebrated 100 years with special prayers and puja. The Maha Shivaratri is an annual Hindu festival held in memory of the god Shiva.
