“2026 Update: Sheng Siong Supermarket was founded in 1985 by the Lim brothers (Mr Lim Hock Eng, Mr Lim Hock Chee and Mr Lim Hock Leng). The Lim brothers once helped out at their father’s pig farm in Punggol. When pork supply exceeded demand, their parents, Mr Lim Hock Chee and his wife, rented a stall at a now-defunct supermarket in Ang Mo Kio to sell chilled pork. Just as they managed to clear the excess stock, the supermarket chain ran into financial trouble and put its stores, including their stall location, up for sale. They have over 80 stores island-wide today. They are designed to offer their customers both “wet and dry” shopping options. They have begun developing a selection of housebrands to provide their customers quality alternatives to national brands at substantial savings. They stay committed to offering their customers safe and quality products that are value-for-money and excellent service.”
