Great ambience, cool band and suitable for friends/family to hang out. Air conditioned, no smoking and no dog are allowed. Food was decent, saw people buying satay, fries, pizza, buffalo wings and spaghetti. They sell ice cream (at least 8 flavours) and liquor (craft beer, beer on tap, soju, red wine, soft drinks, etc) too. Seats are free seating after purchasing food/drinks from the counter. Saw family bringing children there for meals while parents ordered beer jug/barrel to share. Have high and low table. A few are reserved in advance. Almost full house for a Saturday night but customers are allowed to sit there with no time limit. Their band started at 8pm. 3 powerful vocalists, 1 guitarist and 1 drummer. They play at least 3 sessions, singing a mix of Chinese and Cantonese songs.

If you’re in Sengkang and need a place to hide/chill from the hot sun, and/or have lunch/dinner, why not consider ESSEN? I came for late lunch around 4pm and the whole place gave plenty of chill vibes, vastly in contrast to the temperature outside. With cold beer and ice cream in their selection, it’s pretty amazing. I tried their salmon with French beans and baby potatoes - it was delicious to say the least! Well seasoned salmon and the right acidity to the tartar sauce. They service pastas, pizzas, Viet/Thai food, steak, lamb, pork, fish, burgers andddd buffalo wings! There’s a live band setup so I believe there’s live music at night. I would definitely return again soon! Love the food and space.

Got introduced to this hidden gem of a place at the hood. Love it! Good food and drinks at decent prices, a good live band and nice ambiance. Recommend.
