“The Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple was initially built by Mr. Ethirnayagam Pillai, a Tamil from Sri Lanka, as a simple shelter with a roof. In the 1850s, a statue of Lord Vinayagar was discovered near a pond where a Senpaga tree, known as Senpaga in Tamil, grew, adding to the unique charm of the temple. The temple's first consecration ceremony took place in 1930. In addition to its religious significance, the temple also serves as an educational centre for students. The Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Music and Dance Academy, established in 2005, is dedicated to Indian arts and music. Since its inception, the academy has provided quality education in the arts and music to over 1,000 students. The specialised teachers at the academy are trained at reputable institutions in India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and other countries.”
