One of Singapore’s oldest Chinese temple in heart of business district. It is built in 1839 by the Hokkien clan association in worship of Mazu(Goddess of the Sea). Built in southern Chinese architectural style, it has ornate columns with many Chinese art symbolic of the Taoist worshipping traditions of that era. The temple is free entry for everyone, however no photo taking is allowed within the deities inner court.
The Thian Hock Keng Temple is a Singaporean Taoist Temple dedicated to the Chinese Goddess of the Sea Mazu. Mazu is worshipped in much of Asia, including China, Taiwan, Japan, and of course Singapore.
Beautiful and serene. We went there on a Sunday evening, so it was also very quiet.
